Dinghy pair aided by lifeboat crew

TWO men and their angling dinghy were taken ashore by the Whitstable lifeboat after their craft broke down with a fuel pipe problem.

The lifeboat crew located the craft between Reculver and the Kentish Flats wind farm on Wednesday afternoon.

A member of the lifeboat crew was transferred to the casualty craft to assist in releasing the vessel from its anchor.

The two occupants of the dinghy were then transferred to the lifeboat and the 18-foot craft was towed to Herne Bay harbour where a coastguard unit was waiting.

The rescued men, one from Herne Bay and the other from Canterbury, were unharmed.
