After seeing their side record their first win this season, our panel are confident they can break their 30-game away day duck against out-of-form League 2 promotion favourites Bradford City on Saturday.

Here are there predictions:

JAMES STAPLE

(Greenwich)

"Confidence is likely to be high after the dominant performance against Shrewsbury last weekend.

"With the injured players now also coming back, we are in a much stronger position than in recent weeks.

"Bradford will be disappointed with their own start and in Peter Taylor they have a manager who will know a great deal about his opposite number but it’s the players on the pitch that will make the difference.

"That elusive first away win feels like it might be close and I’m going to back the boys to get it this weekend.

"A clean sheet on our travels would be a nice additional bonus and we’ve shown iwe have the players capable of scoring goals."

Prediction: Bradford 1 Gills 2

ALEX SARSON

(Wellingborough)

"After the 2-0 win at home to Shrewsbury, there is a simple message to deliver to the team – keep winning. We need to get a winning run together and why not kill off the away-day hoodoo to start the winning run?

"Bradford are not going to make it easy. We know they have a good manager and that they pack the fans in at Valley Parade.

Cody McDonald
Cody McDonald

"I hope to see Cody McDonald (pictured) continue to partner Akinfenwa up top and maybe he can open up his account. We know the big man can score and now it’s Cody’s turn.

"It could be an opportunity to throw Stanley Aborah in and see what he’s able to do in a league game, as the end of the month is now just two weeks away we don’t have many opportunities left to see what he can do before his contract is up."

Predicition: Bradford 1 Gills 2

MALCOLM SMITH

(Grimsby)

"Early season optimism has paled into autumn reality. This is going to be a long tough season and every ounce of effort will be needed to climb to the top of the table and stay there.

"I’m glad we are playing one of the division’s so-called big teams following our first win, as Bradford (I hope) will try to go out and win the game.

"Too many teams will park the bus in front of goal for our liking this season but with Peter Taylor you can be certain they will play in the ‘right’ way.

"I hope with the return of key players that we will break our away-day duck. Weston makes such a difference and I’m looking foward to seeing Oli and Aborah play."

Prediction: Bradford 1 Gills 2

MIKE HARRISON

(Editor of Bradford fanzine The City Gent)

"This season has been a struggle so far but we have had a tough start. I think we must have the worst home record over the past 10 seasons.

"Ever since we were in the Premier League we have fallen through the divisions. The crowd tend to get on the players’ backs and it can be a problem.

"I know Gillingham have had a long run without an away win but we can
be very accommodating in that respect. We thought Southend would be the easiest game of our first six and they hadn’t won away since last year but they ended up playing us off the park.

Prediction: 0-0
