A YOUNG woman from Sheppey remains in intensive care at the Medway Maritime Hospital after being seriously injured in a car accident almost two months ago.

Claire Mobbs, 23, who is the joint licensee of The Jolly Sailor at Blue Town, was thrown through the windscreen of the van she was driving and suffered spine, neck and head injuries.

The vehcile overturned and collided with a junction sign on the Maidstone bound carriageway of the A249 near the Kemsley junction on April 28.

Her father Michael Mobbs says she is still breathing with the help of a machine but has suffered a few setbacks.

He said: "She now how has the MRS virus and on Saturday she underwent a three hour operation to remove part of her stomach due to an infection.

"She has a long way to go yet and will probably be in there (hospital) for some time."
