Christmas decorations taken from outside homes

POLICE are investigating six separate thefts of Christmas decorations from the front of houses in one street.

All the thefts in Recreation Way, Kemsley, near Sittingbourne, occurred between Tuesday, December 20, and Thursday, December 22.

The items taken were:

* A Santa sitting in a rocking chair reading a book, worth £60.

* A 3ft tall snowman valued at £45

* A 3ft tall Santa worth £45

* A waving Santa estimated at £30

* A reindeer and sledge valued at £40

* A large reindeer with an estimated value of £100

* Christmas lights, Santa, snowman and reindeer with a combined value of £280.

PC Warren Jarvis said: “When you combine the value of the decorations taken, it adds up to a considerable sum and we have launched a full investigation.

"We are hopeful that there may be a number of potential witnesses as the items may have taken some time to remove. It is saddening that someone would commit such a crime just a few days before Christmas.”

Anyone able to help police with their investigation, is asked to contact Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.
