Thousands of people lined the streets of Whitstable to see Saturday’s carnival parade, hailed as one of the best ever.

Town giant Captain Sam made sure it was a towering success, along with a mass international delegation from Whitstable Twinning Association.

There were plenty of floats and walking entries, including Whitstable’s volunteer lifeboat crews wearing their full sea-going equipment and the Kent Circus School.

Young members of Whitstable’s Sea Cadets put together their own float in a week, using the unit’s strong musical tradition as inspiration.

Other entries this year included Joy Lane school’s walking bus, the Lindley Players and Phoenix Performing Arts and Kindergarten Kids.
