Police found 35 cannabis plants growing in the back garden and shed of a house in a Kent town.

Officers visited a terraced home in Windmill Walk, Ramsgate on Wednesday and discovered the plants, together with lighting and heating equipment.

A 55-year-old man from the town was arrested on the same day on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis and the abstraction of electricity. He has been bailed until 4 November, pending further inquiries.

Police say the operation was the direct result of information received from members of the community.

Sgt Lara Connor, who led the operation, said: "We are very grateful to the people who contacted us and worked with us on this.

"We would encourage anyone with any information or concerns relating to policing in their part of Thanet to come to us. Call our office on 01843 222207."

Police worked with engineers from EDF to ensure the property was safe.
