Cab driver in robbery ordeal

A TAXI driver was forced to hand over cash and threatened with a weapon after he had stopped to pick up a fare.

The 35-year-old victim was called to Ypres Drive in Kemsley, near Sittingbourne, between 5.45pm and 6.17pm on Tuesday evening.

When he stopped the cab a man got in, threatened him with a weapon and demanded money. The driver handed over about £100 in cash before the man got out of the car and ran away.

The male suspect is described as white, aged between 18 and 20 and of medium build. He was wearing a three-quarter length hooded coat.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
