Fire broke out at a former hospital last night.

Firefighters were called when security officers discovered plastic sheeting alight around the Manor House on the old Leybourne Grange Hospital estate on Sunday night.

Two crews from Larkfield used harnesses and ropes to reach the sheets which were around scaffolding on the fourth floor of the building which is undergoing renovation as part of the new Birling Grange development.

The fire was extinguished within 40 minutes.
