Bridge cable cutter likely to have suffered severe burns

POLICE are appealing for information after a live power cable on a bridge was cut causing a power cut in parts of a Kent town and thousands of pounds worth of damage.

The incident took place at Cable Bridge, Wharf Road, Tovil, and caused power losses in some areas of Maidstone. It will cost around £10,000 to repair the cable.

PC Simon Powell said: "We do not know why someone would do this as it is obviously extremely dangerous. It is likely the person responsible would have suffered severe burns, which would have required hospital treatment."

The criminal damage happened between 9.30pm on Thursday, April 27 and 10.30am on Saturday, May 6.
