Andy Hessenthaler is hoping that this time is the right time for Gillingham.

The Gills surged up the League 2 table this time last season and boss Hessenthaler hopes his team will do the same now.

A 2-1 win over Aldershot on Saturday made it two league victories on the spin for Hessenthaler’s men who now sit eighth in League 2.

"We have got to go from a second win (in a row) to a third win and then a fourth," said Hessenthaler.

"That’s what we need to do because at the moment we are having a couple of wins and then getting a knock.

"We would like to take that into the home game with Bradford (on Saturday) and make it three wins. There is no reason why we can’t.

"The boys are very much together and there is a good atmosphere in the changing room. At this stage last season we started on our good run and we hope that is going to be the same this season."

This time last year the Gills sat third-from-bottom in League 2, but bounced back with five consecutive wins, losing just twice in a 26-game spell.
