A day in the life of a soldier at war

We all hear about the fighting between Kent's troops and the Taliban in Helmand Province in Afghanistan.

Yet many of us hear little about what day to day life is actually like for soldiers living in the battleground.

Corporal Lekh Rai is Six Platoon One Section Commander in B Company of the Folkestone-based Second Battalion of Royal Gurkha Rifles.

Living in Patrol Base Woqab to the north of the district's centre, he is part of the effort to hold off insurgent forces to allow Afghan civilians to get on with their lives safely to the south of the base.

See how he lives and what goes on in the compounds on the frontline by clicking on the video above.
