Workforce praised for builder's boom

A NEW classroom block at Gillingham's Robert Napier School is among £24 million worth of work lined up for Kent builder, Denne Group. Canterbury-based Denne is no stranger to the secondary school, having built the new sports hall that was opened by former pupil Sir David Frost.

The Kent Construction Division is also due to start work on a 23-bed nursing home for The Kent Community Housing Trust at Bridge, near Canterbury. Commenting on the Group's full order books, chief executive Stephen Kingsman said: "Success at Denne has been built on our committed, skilled and dedicated workforce who create our competitive advantage. Our forward-order book highlights this fact."

Other new building contracts include more than 150 new homes, nursing homes and education facilities for Denne's Kent Construction Division based at Bramling and its newly established South & East Construction Division at Borden. The division will also be kept busy at Skanska's new Fenwick departmental store in Canterbury.
