Ashford College: Students and staff given sneak peek of construction site

Students and staff were given a tour of a new college campus set to open in September next year.

Young people studying engineering got to see the future Ashford College site on Elwick Road, which is being built by BAM Construction.

Chris Tyler, work placement co-ordinator at Ashford College, said: “Engineering students learned first-hand from BAM experts about engineering developments at the new Ashford College site.

“They viewed site plans and learned about piling and drainage. The visit provided a world of work context to complement work in college.”

Mayor of Ashford, Cllr Geraldine Dyer, said: “This exciting project will realise a long held ambition of the council for a high quality learning facility, right in the heart of the town centre.

“A highly skilled local workforce is vital for ensuring the success of an area, therefore Ashford having its own first class education and skills provision within the town will play a key part in our future prosperity.”
