Power cut hits supermarket

COLD and frozen meals were off the menu in one Tesco store yesterday.

Fridges and freezers went into meltdown when a power cut hit the supermarket chain's Foots Cray store.

Although able to resume business later, the supermarket chain was unable to sell any cold or frozen food because of health and safety issues after the two-hour blackout.

More than 1,000 homes were also hit when the power went off from about 3.30pm.
