Halling: Plant has hours restricted

A NEW ready-mixed concrete plant has been given permission to develop on the banks of the Medway.

But Medway’s planning committee has strictly limited the hours the RMC company can operate so that they can reduce the disturbance to nearby residents in Halling.

The company recently moved there from Rochester. Its premises at Cory’s Wharf were compulsorily bought to enable the development of the multi-million Rochester Riverside development to go ahead.

It took over the former Rochester Cement Works in Formby Road, Halling.

The company has been told they can only operate between 7am and 5pm on weekdays and must finish at 1pm on Saturdays. It is expected that more than 120 lorries will travel to or from the site each day.
