Commitment to training wins award

A HUMAN resources manager with P&O Stena Line has won a top hospitality award for his commitment to training the company's staff. Peter Ambrose, from Deal, won the Hotel and Catering Personnel and Training Association's award for excellence in training and development at its annual awards held at the Savoy Hotel in London.

Judges were impressed with how Mr Rose has integrated training within a strategy of flexible working. He runs workshops for managers to resolve issues and inspires his team with structured training programmes for hotel services staff.

As part of the programmes, 700 ferry staff are undertaking national vocational awards. "People are vital to our business and our success depends on investing in all our employees," said Mr Ambrose. "We recognise that training and development are the key to us providing outstanding service to our customers."
