Herne Bay man charged after armed police called to beach near St George’s Terrace

A man has been charged after armed police were called to a disturbance at a beach and seized a BB gun, kitchen knife and knuckle duster.

Officers attended an incident near St George’s Terrace in Herne Bay at 12.45am on Monday following reports two people had been assaulted.

Two men, who sustained injuries not believed to be serious, were treated at the scene by paramedics.

A man was arrested and taken into custody.

Mark Billingy, 47, of St George’s Terrence, was charged today with possessing an imitation firearm with intent (a BB gun), two counts of racially-aggravated assault, possessing a bladed article (kitchen knife) in a public place and possession of a knuckleduster.

He is due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on today.
