A home draw on Sunday did little to help Ebbsfleet’s hopes of banishing their relegation fears.

The Fleet were in need of a victory to pull themselves away from the danger zone in the Blue Square Premier but drew a blank against York at Stonebridge Road.

A goalless draw leaves them just one place and one point above the bottom four.

Fleet enjoyed the majority of the possession and had a number of chances but were thwarted by visiting keeper Michael Ingham.

First half opportunities fell to Stacy Long and Neil Barrett but they were both saved and York’s luck held out until the final whistle, as second half efforts from Long, Ricky Shakes and Darius Charles were all saved.

Ebbsfleet United: Cronin, Ricketts, Charles, Crooks, Opinel, Moore, Barrett, Martin, Long (Duncan 89mins), Gash, Sole (Shakes 76mins). Subs not used: Mott, Smith, Slatter.

Attendance: 1,244
