EBBSFLEET came away from Saturday's Blue Square Premier trip to Oxford United with a point after a goalless draw.

Oxford skipper Barry Quinn was lucky to stay on the pitch nine minutes into the second half when he was only shown a yellow card for fouling Chukki Eribenne when he seemed to be through on goal.

The home side came closest to breaking the deadlock on 73 minutes when first Lance Cronin denied Phil Trainer and then Eddie Ancalet's effort struck a post.

The Fleet immediately went down the other end and Eribenne saw his shot parried by Oxford keeper Billy Turley.

Oxford were reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute when substitute Robert Duffy received his marching orders for a high tackle on Mark Ricketts just a minute after coming on.

Cronin had to be at his best again six minutes from time to tip Carl Pettefer's shot round his post.

Chris McPhee had a golden opportunity to win it for the Fleet in the 87th minute but his effort was superbly saved by Turley.

Ebbsfleet: Cronin, Ricketts, Smith, McCarthy, Hawkins, McPhee, Bostwick, Long, Nade (Purcell 70), Moore, Eribenne.

Subs Not Used: French, Coleman, Starkey, Maskell.

Attendance: 4,655.
