Fleet made to rue missed chances

Gravesend & Northfleet 1 Crawley Town 1

GRAVESEND could only manage a draw at home against struggling Crawley Town after concending a stoppage time equaliser at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday.

It looked like the points were Fleet's when substitute Mark Rawle, taking reponsibility in the absence of leading scorer Charlie MacDonald, netted from inside the six-yard box on the hour.

It was no more than Liam Daish's side deserved having held the upper hand during a first half when Paul McCarthy, Andy Drury and Robert Watkins all went close.

But the home side paid the penalty for failing to kill of their opponents when Daryl Clare set up Neil Jenkins to level the scores.

The point lifted John Hollins's side three points clear of Nationwide Conference bottom side Southport. Gravesend remain in 11th place on 42 points.

Gravesend: Holloway, Gooding, McCarthy, R. Smith, Watkins, Slatter (Rawle 43), McKimm, Johnson, Jackson, Drury (Fuller 82), Moore.
Subs Not Used: Kerr, J. Smith, Sodje.
Attendance: 698.
