Parents to pack out public meeting

Parents are expected to pack out a school hall to hear about plans to turn a comprehensive school into an academy.

The meeting tonight at the Axton Chase School, Main Road, Longfield, starts at 7.30pm.

Academy sponsors: The Leigh Technology Trust, The University of Kent and Kent County Council, are holding another public consultation in response to concerns raised at two previous public meetings.

This week campaigning parents set up an action group Parents Against Axton Chase Academy in a further attempt to halt proposals.

The group says it is not against change but wants and needs a new school without the academy status.
