Young Gravesend couple blame bus driver for baby fall in Crayford

A woman says she is terrified to travel by bus after her six-week old baby allegedly went flying from his pram as the bus turned a corner.

Courtney Carnell, 20, and husband Josh Fowler, 19, of Dale Road, Gravesend, were on the 428 service.

They had just passed the Bear and Ragged Staff pub in Crayford when they claim the bus swerved around a corner at speed, causing baby Isaac to fall out of his pram and on to the floor of the bus.

Luckily, he fell on to his baby-changing bag, cushioning his landing.

Josh was standing with the pram in the reserved area, with its brakes secured, but says he too was thrown into the back doors of the bus.

The 19-year-old suffers with back pain after a car accident last year and says the incident has caused him even more discomfort.

Courtney said: “What was supposed to be a nice family day turned out to be a day from hell."

The couple approached the driver but claim he refused to acknowledge what happened, carried on driving and when the bus was accelerating, Josh fell for a second time.

Courtney said: “This got my blood boiling."

A spokesman for Transport For London said all nine bus drivers on the number 428 route had been interviewed and investigations were ongoing.
