A jury is due to be sworn in for the trial of Ben Lacomba, the man accused of murdering missing Kent woman Sarah Wellgreen.

Lacomba, 39, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court today, in front of His Honour Judge Christopher Kinch, who selected a provisional panel of jurors this afternoon.

The panel is due to be officially sworn in tomorrow.

Mum-of-five Sarah Wellgreen, who was 46 when she went missing, was last seen near her home in Bazes Shaw, New Ash Green, on October 9 last year.

Lacomba, of Bazes Shaw, New Ash Green, spoke only to confirm his name.

Lacomba was arrested on October 16 before being released on bail - but was arrested again two months later and charged with killing his ex Miss Wellgreen, which he denies.

She is yet to be found.

Sarah had not used her bank cards or mobile phone since October 9, and her black iPhone 4, believed to hold vital clues, has also not been found.

In December last year volunteers launched a trust to help raise money for Sarah's family.

Lacomba's trial is due to start at Woolwich Crown Court and is expected to last several weeks.

Miss Wellgreen's son Lewis Burdett posted on the Search for Sarah Wellgreen Facebook site earlier this month stating: "Not long now Mum, only 8 days left until we start to find out the truth about what really happened back in October last year. We still miss you every day, with court starting so soon it's getting so much harder not being able to have your guidance with the hard times ahead.
