Man arrested on suspicion of possessing firearm and dangerous driving after crash in Southfleet

A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and dangerous driving after a crash in Southfleet.

Kent Police was called at 12.50pm on Sunday following a two vehicle collision in Highcross Road.

The driver of one of the vehicles left the scene on foot and was reported to be in possession of a weapon - and the a police helicopter was deployed in the search.

A 27-year-old man from Northfleet was arrested the following day for possession of a firearm, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, possession of class A drugs and theft of a motor vehicle.

He will appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on May 12.

No serious injuries were reported in the crash.
