A doctor at Darent Valley Hospital hanged himself at home following an argument with his wife, an inquest has heard.

After finding him, the wife of Dr Krishna Gowda was so distressed she had to be detained under the Mental Health Act for her own safety, and later admitted to Littlebrook Hospital, in Dartford.

The couple’s two children are being cared for, the coroner’s court heard.

The 37-year-old consultant radiologist, of Pembroke Place, Sutton-at-Hone, had rowed with wife Unanaheshwar Kyattonahally, who was training to be a doctor, about whether she should get a job.

The inquest heard Dr Gowda then went upstairs and after 30 minutes his wife followed him to apologise, but found his body at the top of the stairs.
