Ebbsfleet United have Scunthorpe United loan striker Matt Godden back on loan and Moses Ashikodi nearing full fitness

Ebbsfleet have received a timely double boost in the goal-scoring department as their scrap for survival intensifies.

Scunthorpe striker Matt Godden is back at the club for a second loan spell and injured forward Moses Ashikodi is closing in on a return to action.

Godden, who energised the Fleet during a month-long stay toward the end of last year, looked equally sharp in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Newport.

Ashikodi (pictured) watched that game from the stands but revealed he was back in training after three months out with a knee problem.

He said: "I’m supposed to be close, within a week. I’ve been in the gym every day.

Ebbsfleet have 11 games to save themselves from the drop. Ashikodi’s goals almost kept them up during his previous spell at Stonebridge Road, in 2009-10.

For Godden, this is unknown territory but his hunger to impress could make the difference for Liam Daish’s side.

He said: "I want to be playing football and scoring goals. If I can score goals to keep the team up, that’s the most important thing."
