Beleaguered Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish has been given the backing of chairman Duncan Holt.

Mr Holt took over in charge at Stonebridge Road three months ago on a trial basis but this weekend he will write to MyFootballClub members asking them whether they would like him to continue.

Fleet have lurched from crisis to crisis in recent months, with just one win all season, and lie second bottom of the Blue Square Premier.

They are without a win in 11 games and have managed only one goal in their last seven outings.

Things reached a new low on Saturday with a 3-0 defeat at lower division Bromley in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

Fleet face a tough game at home to Wrexham on Saturday but Mr Holt said:

"At many other football clubs, Liam would have been under a lot of pressure but not at this club.

"We have asked him to sell his best players and release players who we could not offer terms to."

Mr Holt added: "Liam has one of the smallest budgets in the league. We can hardly turn around after two months and say ‘you’re rubbish'."

"He built a squad up over four years and we have had to ask him to dismantle it and start again. The club is facing problems, but Liam Daish is not one of them."

Mr Holt also revealed he was keen to remain in the hotseat, so long as MyFootballClub members continue to back him.
