Stewardship of the event is now with Gravesham with Ebbsfleet Rotary and the team has been carefully rebuilding the links with thousands of entrants who have raised more than half a million pounds for charities.

This year's ride saw more than 440 cyclists leave Gravesend Riverside Leisure area for either a 15, 30 or 45 mile route.

Club president Mark Underwood set them off with blasts of an air horn and a waving Union Jack.

He said: "Cyclists from all over the area have shown their commitment to the ride and using their wheel power to help charities. What a tremendous day."

The main beneficiary of On Your Bike 2022 was Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Services, which has responded to a huge increase in support calls and services because of Covid-19.

Other Rotary supported charities will also benefit from the estimated thousands of pounds raised.
