Beauties will be battling it out to win a place in Miss Great Britain.

The competition's first ever Kent live heat will take place tonight at Elite Venue, Gravesend.

This contest will see 11 girls competing to be crowned Miss Kent GB, and the winner will go on to represent the county in the prestigious Miss Great Britain pageant - which has been going for 75 years.

Kobe Emelonye, who won the Kent title in 2017 and 2018 will host the event, and said being apart of pageants since 2017 had brought her extra confidence.

"I felt like it was time to allow someone else to have such a wonderful experience but I still wanted to be involved with the company itself," said Kobe, who is now regional director for the event.

Kobe, who lives in Greenhithe, lost seven stone to become Miss Kent and now aims to educate those with body image troubles.

"People think that beauty pageants are all about looks, when really it is more than that.

"It is an opportunity to rebuild yourself, your skills and your knowledge, it gives you a chance to find a passion as well at make new friends and raise money for a charitable cause.

"Our charity of the year is InnerCity mission and it gives children around the world who have no access to education or its resources, the chance at a brighter future.

"So far the girls and I have raised over £2,000 for this worthy cause and I am so proud of all of their hard work"

The Miss Great Britain grand final will take place in February 2020.
