Man remanded over year 2000 rape and kidnap

A MAN has been arrested and charged with the kidnap and rape of a Kent woman eight years ago.

Kelvin Bennett, a 45-year-old civil servant from Birmingham, was arrested in Coventry by officers from the Kent Police Cold Case Investigation Team on Wednesday.

He was remanded in custody by magistrates in Folkestone on Friday. He will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on February 29.

The offence for which he is being prosecuted occurred in 2000. The alleged victim was a woman from Folkestone.
