Dover 29 Chobham 3

Dover completed back-to-back home wins for the first time this season with a dominant performance against Chobham.

“This was another convincing display against a good and well-organised side,” said coach Graham Tonks. “The forwards were excellent and the platform that they created allowed the backs to score some great tries.”

It took Dover just two minutes to score as Ricky Mackintosh caught Martyn Beaumont’s kick before beating one defender to touch down.

Beaumont added the extras but for the next 20 minutes the home side struggled to capitalise on their good start, squandering possession on numerous occasions.

Chobham kicked a penalty during that period, reducing the deficit, only for Dover to respond and they did not look back.

Beaumont scored the hosts’ second try and Jamie Townley produced a sweet dummy to secure the third, leaving Dover 19-3 ahead at the break.

In a scrappy second half, Townley grabbed his second try following a quick Ben Murray tap penalty.

Jamie Phillips then completed the scoring, racing 35 metres to touch down after Blair Charge fed him from the scrum.
