Double celebrations are being held by schools in Dover Federation for the Arts this week.

In only its third monitoring visit, Barton Junior School was removed from Special Measures, having come out clearly as satisfactory with some good features.

"This has been achieved through the hard work of the children and the dedicated support of the teaching and support staff," said federation chief executive Chris Russell.

"Parents have played a large role by encouraging and backing the school through its recent difficult history."

White Cliffs Primary College for the Arts - the former St Radigund’s Primary School - gained its best ever SATs results, easily eclipsing last year’s efforts.

To celebrate their successes, the children of both schools showed their excitement by waving to a privately-sponsored aerial photographer.
