Lone gunman robs betting shop

POLICE are hunting for an armed robber who escaped with cash from a bookmakers in Dover this afternoon.

The robber struck at Coral’s betting office in London Road just after 12.30pm.

Police received a report that a man with a white mask over his face, and brandishing a black revolver, had stolen an undisclosed amount of money from the safe.

He was said to have made off on foot down nearby Churchill Street with the money in a white carrier bag and the gun in his pocket.

Police are looking for a white man, five feet 11 inches tall, skinny build, wearing a blue boiler suit and baseball cap. He had a local accent.
