Organisers of a rally and march in support of a major hospital for Dover are delighted at the response.

Around 500 people attended the event on Saturday.

One of the organisers, town councillor David Hannent, described it as a “super turnout”.

Cllr Hannent told the crowd: “This is a world-class town, we are told, and where is our hospital?”

Reg Hansell, who is leading the campaign for a new general hospital, said health care provision in Dover was totally inadequate.

“Dover is a strategic location in the United Kingdom and needs and deserves a new hospital," he said.
