Fire crews tackle house blaze

Firefighters used breathing apparatus as they tackled a blaze at a house early on Sunday.

Crews were called just after midnight to the two-storey property in Tower Street, Dover, after neighbours were alerted by a smoke alarm and noticed a smell of burning.

The fire was in a first-floor bedroom and at first it was thought that there were people in the house.

It took more than an hour to put the fire out, and to confirm that there was no-one inside the house.
