Open venue star attraction in better ball

OPEN Championship venue Royal St George's is once again the main draw for players entering this year's Sandwich Bay Winter Better Ball Series.

The 54-hole individual competition for professionals will be held over three courses in Kent in early March.

St George's - which last held the Open in 2003 and will again host it in

2011 - is the venue for the middle day of three.

Prince's starts the action on March 10 and Littlestone hosts the final day on March 12.

Amateurs will play an 18-hole daily better ball competition to allow the flexibility for a different partner to play each day with the professional, who will also be involved in a daily competition as well as the overall event - sponsored by Titleist.

Last year Prince's Richard Wallis and Tudor Park's Matthew Ford were joint winners on five over after encountering some difficult conditions over the course of the tournament.

The event is limited to just 40 pairs. Entry fee for amateurs is £350 (for three days) with entry for professionals £75.

Applications for entries should be made through the PGA South Region office at Clandon Regis Golf Club on 01483 224200 or email south.region@pga.org.uk
