Karen Stupples was left with mixed emotions after helping Europe’s top women golfers regain the Solheim Cup at the weekend.

Europe beat the United States by 15 points to 13 after a thrilling final day at Killeen Castle in Ireland. But Stupples, making her second Solheim appearance, received a walkover in her singles match with Cristie Kerr after her opponent withdrew at late notice because of a wrist injury.

The Deal professional (pictured), who now lives in Florida, said: "I have still got mixed emotions because unfortunately my (singles) game didn’t happen. No one wants to win a point like that.

"I was gutted for her and gutted for myself because we would have had a fantastic game."

Stupples had also been eager to try to win her first Solheim match at the fifth attempt. After losing her two matches when she made her debut in 2005, Stupples lost both her pairs matches in Ireland.
