Dover boss Martin Hayes saw his side do everything but score as they slipped to a 1-0 Blue Square Bet South defeat at Staines.

Lewwis Spence, playing his last game on loan for the club after being called back by Rushden & Diamonds, hit both posts in the first half.

Top scorer Adam Birchall also missed out on two one-on-ones against home goalkeeper Louie Wells, while Luke I’Anson rolled another chance wide.

Striker Elliot Onachie grabbed the 75th minute winner to settle the contest at Wheatsheaf Park, as the home side profited from a breakaway attack, following a Dover corner.

Dover suffered another blow, losing midfielder Jon Wallis (pictured) after only 10 minutes with damaged ankle ligaments.
