Abi Stockhall arranges gig in aid of Scout’s Japanese jamboree at Deal and Betteshanger Rugby Club, Canada Road, Walmer

A gig in aid of a Deal girl’s World Scout Jamboree fund with take place at Deal and Betteshanger Rugby Club on Friday, November 28.

Six-piece band Coco, who specialise in funk and disco music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, will perform at the club in Canada Road from 8pm to help to Scout Abigail Stockhall who needs to raise £2,500 to attend the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan next year.

The World Scout Jamboree has been held every four years since 1920, apart from during the Second World War. It was last held in Sweden in 2011.

Abigail, of St Richards Road, has been a member of the 2nd Deal Sea Scouts since she was six.

She has been fundraising for the once in a lifetime trip since she was picked from nine Scouts in the district at a selection day in November last year.

Abigail has already raised £1,652.

This is thanks to donations from her friends and family, Deal and Walmer Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Deal, plus fundraising including bag packing in supermarkets, cake sales and a sponsored walk along the North Down.

Abigail said: “The gig will be a fun evening. I would greatly appreciate it if you could support me in my, hopefully, last leg of fundraising, by getting a ticket and coming along.

“I am sure you will love the evening and you can even drag some friends and family along with you.” The bar will be open from 7pm. There will also be a raffle. To donate raffle prizes call the number below.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £5 for children.

All the ticket receipts will go towards Abigail’s fund.
