Dog walker shames council for neglecting bin at Western Road playing field, Deal

Dover District Council has apologised to park users for failing to empty bins, despite claims they had already been telephoned.

This picture of the over-spilling bin was taken by dog walker Brian Short in the Western Road playing field on Monday.

He shamed the council’s rubbish collectors on Facebook, saying: “Whilst persecuting dog owners and using the excuse they do not pick up their dog poo, it seems Dover District Council seems to have forgotten its end of the bargain and is not picking up theirs....”

He added: “Its been like this for a week in a public park despite a phone call to remind them.”

The Mercury contacted a Dover District Council spokesman, who immediately made calls asking for the bin to be emptied that day.

He said: “We are sorry, that is clearly not acceptable and we are arranging for it to be cleared this afternoon.

“We encourage everyone to clear up after their dogs and dispose of it in a responsible way”.
