Tennis star Murray at The Valley - but no sign of Newcastle's Wise

All the talk at Charlton’s home game against Wolves on Saturday was of Newcastle director of football Dennis Wise seeking refuge at The Valley from enraged Geordies seeking his blood following Kevin Keegan’s controversial departure from St James’ Park.

Though Wise was listed among the scouts he failed to show.

Instead, the spotlight fell on British No1 Andy Murray who quietly slipped into the ground with his fitness coach, Jez Green a Charlton fan, to watch the match. They were accompanied by former England No 1 and tennis summariser John Lloyd who is a Wolves fan.

They watched the match from the Celebration Suite and afterwards were invited to the boardroom.

Murray is no stranger to The Valley having watched last season’s 1-0 midweek home win over Stoke City.
