Kent Air Ambulance called to Brandshatch Place Hotel and Spa in Fawkham after a woman nearly drowned in a swimming pool

Ambulance crews were called to a hotel after a woman almost drowned in a swimming pool.

Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance and the Kent Air Ambulance were called to Brandshatch Place Hotel and Spa in Brands Hatch Road, Fawkham at 1.30pm yesterday.

Witnesses say emergency crews were called after the woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found "face down" in the hotel pool.

An ambulance spokesman said she was treated at the scene and was fully conscious before she was taken to Darent Valley Hospital.

An air ambulance landed on the hotel lawn but the woman was taken to hospital by road.

Hotel manager Andrew Oxby said: "One of our health club members got into difficulties while she was in the pool yesterday and was helped out by another club member.

"A paramedic and an ambulance were called and she was taken to Darent Valley Hospital. The air ambulance also attended but was not required.

"We spoke to the hospital this morning and were told that she was feeling much better."
