Dartford's FA Cup dream was ended with a comprehensive first round replay defeat at the hands of League 2 promotion-chasers Port Vale on Tuesday night.

Vale were denied a penalty after a challenge on Justin Richards early-on and Darts keeper Andy Young did well to deny the striker’s volley soon after.

The opener eventually arrived on 17 minutes after Paul Goodacre was adjudged to have brought down Gary Roberts in the box and Marc Richards slotted his 11th goal of the season from the spot.

The game was all but over when Richards smashed in his second on 26 minutes after a left-wing cross from Kris Taylor.

Tony Burman's (pictured) side continued to play football to the delight of a large following from Kent and after the break Lee Noble was denied a goal by a fine double-save from Stuart Tomlinson before Sean Rigg swept the Vale's third on 57 minutes.

Justin Richards added the fourth 18 minutes from time while Young expertly denied Taylor a fifth late-on.

The crowd of 3,950 was 89 fewer than attended the 1-1 draw at Princes Park in the initial tie.
