Delays on the M25, M2 and M26 motorways create rush hour chaos

There is heavy traffic on the M25, M2 and M26 motorways, with a crash and a broken down lorry contributing to the jams on major routes towards London.

An accident on the QE2 Bridge has led to severe delays on the M25 in the clockwise direction between Dartford and Romford, with drivers backed up in queues four miles long.

On the M2, one lane closed in the London-bound direction and there is queueing traffic for three miles due to a broken down lorry at J6 A251 Ashford Road, Faversham.

There have also been reports of build ups on the M26 London bound between J2A A20 London Road and J5 M25 J5, due to an earlier traffic problem, but congestion is now said to be easing.
