Jamie Day insisted that he parted company with Dartford on good terms, despite a much publicised dispute between Welling and the Darts.

The Blue Square South club failed to approach Dartford for Day’s services, after the midfielder believed that he had an agreement to leave the Princes Park outfit, despite still having six months of his contract to run.

When Welling made public their intention to appoint Day their new manager to replace Andy Ford last Wednesday, Dartford blocked the move.

Day (pictured) said: "I spoke to Tony Burman last Friday and he said that if I ever need guidance, he is hoping that he will be the first person I turn to and I’m sure he will be.

"We’ve left on good terms, it was just a shame the way it happened in the end.

"I enjoyed myself there, it’s a good club. But if I didn’t take this chance when it was offered to me then I might have always regretted it.

"Dartford have done well this year and I enjoyed my time there. I wouldn’t have left and joined another club as a player. But the chance to be a manager was too good an opportunity for me and one that I couldn’t turn down."
