Europa Gym, in Temple Hill, Dartford, needs contractor to complete its 3G football pitch

A community project which recently received a cash boost is looking for a contractor to add the finishing touch.

Dartford Gym and Youth Club – also known as Europa Gym, in Temple Hill, Dartford – was recently awarded £244,920 from the Community Ownership Fund to help renovate the place.

A condition of the payout means the gym must put out to public tender a contract to complete its new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).

Former Olympian and head coach Andrew Callard, who has been spearheading the project, is now looking for a company to help with the final stage.

He is seeking quotes to supply and fit the new 3G football surface.

Any interested contractors should email andrew@aecallard.co.uk or phone 07970 684102 by November 1.

The revamp of Europa Weightlifting, where Team GB athletes train, was due to be completed in September but has been hampered in the past four years by funding problems, Covid and a burglary which saw £30,000 worth of equipment stolen.
