A 26-year-old driver killed at the scene of a two-car crash in Sutton-at-Hone has been named locally as Jim King.

Tributes have begun pouring in for Mr King on social media following the collision on the A225 Dartford Road on Sunday.

Stephanie Reynolds, referring to Mr King's nickname, said: "RIP Cheno. Was only with you Friday. Sleep tight babe."

Becky Davis said: "RIP Cheno. You were the loveliest lad anyone could ever meet."

Luke Myers is a member of the same car club as Mr King, Performance UK.

He said that a convoy of members would be joined by other car clubs and meet at the Esso garage in Princes Road, Dartford, at 7.30 tonight, they will then make their way to the crash site to pay their respects.

Mr Myers said: "I didn't know him that well, but I'll shed a tear and a lot of people will be shedding tears. I only met him two or three times but personally we've all got the same interests, being petrol heads, which is what we call each other.

"This is an opportunity for people to meet up and remember him. There's going to be more than one car club there, they're coming out to respect that he was part of a club and had the same interests."

Police are urging witnesses to come forward after the crash between a silver Vauxhall Tigra and a dark-coloured Mercedes at just after 10pm.

The crash happened at the junction with Station Road near the railway bridge.

The Vauxhall driver, thought to be Mr King, died at the scene, while the Mercedes driver - who was 41 - and his 15-year-old girl passenger were treated at hospital for minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash.

Police from the police's serious collision investigation unit are investigating.

PS Scott Lynch said: "The traffic was fairly light at the time but we would ask anyone who saw either of the cars in the moments leading up to the collision to contact us."
