Charlie Sheringham's 73rd minute penalty earned Dartford a point in a lively Blue Square Bet South north Kent derby at Princes Park.

He stepped up to beat Preston Edwards from the spot after Fleet skipper Paul Lorraine had been penalised for pushing home striker Danny Harris just inside the box.

Nearly 2,800 watched this first clash between the two local rivals for 18 years which Ebbsfleet controlled for much of the game.

It was Lorraine's only mistake of the afternoon as he and Dean Pooley, carried off earlier with concussion, were in commanding form, shutting out the threat of Sheringham (pictured) and Lee Burns.

Ebbsfleet went infront on 61 minutes when Ashley Carew's well-flighted free-kick was headed in by Michael West for his fourth goal in three games.
