The incident is ongoing and emergency services and National Highways are at the scene.

Earlier congestion was built-up to the M25 clockwise past junction 2 for the A2 Darenth Interchange and back along the A20 past Swanley.

Vehicles were being held on the opposite side of the road to allow the air ambulance to land.

Trapped traffic was also being reversed back to the M25 Swanley Interchange.

The M20 between junction 1 and 2 remains closed and lane 3 of 3 is also shut on the London-bound carriageway.

Update: Two women have died following the crash this morning.

Motorists who were travelling in both directions of the M20 are urged to check for any dashcam footage, which may assist the investigation.
