Charlton bounced back to winning ways in emphatic style with a thumping 4-0 win over Carlisle United.

Jan Kermorgant (pictured) bagged two goals before the break, while Bradley Wright-Phillips and Danny Hollands chipped in to complete the rout. The win ensured Chris Powell's side maintained their one-point lead at the top of League 1 over Huddersfield.

Kermorgant headed in his first goal on just 13 minutes when he got on the end of a Rhoys Wiggins cross in the six-yard box. Eight minutes later, Wright-Phillips registered his eighth goal of the season after capitalising on a defensive mix-up when Tom Taiwo's weak header failed to reach his own keeper.

Kermorgant effectively put the game to bed before the break as he drilled home from 12 yards after Wright-Phillips had seen two efforts blocked inside the area.

Things went from bad to worse for Carlisle when Matt Robson was given his marching orders for a second yellow card.

After the break, Hollands rounded off the scoring with a 25-yard effort that squirmed through the legs of Carlisle keeper Adam Collin. Ben Hamer then denied the visitors a chance to pull one back from the penalty spot when he saved James Berrett's effort.

The victory was Charlton's ninth win of their league campaign.
